Parenting Plans

It is essential for a child’s development to have as much stability as possible, while growing up. Our team at Bliss Law Group is dedicated to helping separated couples create a parenting plan, with your family’s best interests in mind.

What is a Parenting Plan?

A parenting plan is a court order which establishes a custody schedule for separated parents to follow, as well as who makes major decisions about the child, and naming custodian solely for the purpose of all state and federal statutes which require a designation or determination of custody, whether it be shared custody or sole custody.

When parents make the decision to separate their lives, it can seem like a good idea to try and create a parenting schedule together. However, even with the best intentions, creating your own parenting plan often results in causing more difficulties, arguments, confusion, and frustration down the road. This is especially difficult for the children involved.

While every family’s situation is unique, there is a process of establishing a residential schedule. Parties that wish to work together may opt for mediation. In some instances, if the parents are unable to agree or compromise, any unsettled decisions will be determined by a judge or commissioner.

Having a set routine in your parenting plan provides children with the stability and comfort they need, to rely on their parents for years to come, and thrive into their own futures.
